Web Page and Server Code Upload Procedure
Web Page Upload Procedure
This procedure describes how to upload your web page content to your domain web page space.
In general, you ftp the files up to the server where there's a directory under your home
directory that holds all the files for your domain's web space. You put the files under that directory
and they are seen by the world. Here are the specific steps:
Step 1: Use your favorite ftp application to ftp to ftp.[domain_name], where [domain_name]
is your registered domain name. An example domain name is d-3systems.com.
Step 2: Login to the server using the same username and password used for your email account.
Step 3: After logging in to the server, you will be in your home directory.
Navigate to the directory under you home directory that is the name of your domain name without
the ".com" or ".net" or other domain extension. An example of this directory is d-3systems.
Step 4: Use the ftp client software to upload or transfer your html, graphics and other site-related files to the appropriate directories under your "domain home directory".
Step 5: Test out how the files look by pointing your web browser to your domain's home page.
Server Code Upload Procedure
This procedure describes how to upload your code to your domain web page space that can be used to support running applications on the server.
Typically you will ftp the files in the same manner as other web site files. The placement and setup of
code or additional requirements are described below:
Specific File Locations: Files may be placed anywhere under your domain directory.
CGI programs will only run under the cgi directory that is present under the domain directory.
Telnet/SSH Access: Telnet access is not permitted. To obtain terminal access to the server, use an
SSH client and use the SSH protocol. The suggested Windows SSH client is putty, which can be downloaded from:
http://www.networkhead.com/public/putty/putty.exe
There is no installation required to operate putty. Just run putty.exe. Note the application have been virus checked.
